Dos Cuerpos

Dos cuerpos frente a frente

son a veces dos olas

y la noche es océano.

Dos cuerpos frente a frente

son a veces dos piedras

y la noche desierto.

Dos cuerpos frente a frente

son a veces raíces

en la noche enlazadas.

Dos cuerpos frente a frente

son a veces navajas

y la noche relámpago.

Dos cuerpos frente a frente

son dos astros que caen

en un cielo vacío.

Two Bodies

Two bodies face to face

Are sometimes two waves

And the night, an ocean.

Two bodies face to face

Are sometimes two stones

And the night, a desert.

Two bodies face to face

Are sometimes the roots

Joined in the night.

Two bodies face to face

Are sometimes knives

And the night, a lightening.

Two bodies face to face

Are two stars that fall

In an empty sky.

El Cántaro Roto

La lluvia...

Ojos de aqua de sombra,

ojos de agua de pozo,

ojos de aqua de sueńo.

Soles azules, verdes remolinos,

The Broken water-jar

The rain...

Eyes of shadow-water

eyes of well-water

eyes of dream-water

Blue suns, green whirlwinds,

birdbeaks of light pecking open

pomegranate stars.

But tell me, burnt earth, is there no water?

Only blood, only dust,

only naked footsteps on

the thorns?

The rain awakens...

We must sleep with open eyes,

we must dream with our hands,

we must dream the dreams of a river seeking

its course,

of the sun dreaming its worlds,

we must dream aloud,

we must sing till the song puts forth roots,

trunk, branches, birds, stars,

we must find the lost word,

and remember what the blood, the tides,

the earth and the body say,

and return to the point of departure…

Decir, Hacer

Entre lo que veo y digo,

Entre lo que digo y callo,

Entre lo que callo y sueño,

Entre lo que sueño y olvido

La poesía.
…..

Between what I see and what I say,

between what I say and what I keep silent,

between what I keep silent and what I dream,

between what I dream and what I forget:

poetry.

A través

Doblo la página del día,

escribo lo que me dicta

el movimiento de tus pestañas.

Mis manos

abren las cortinas de tu ser

te visten con otra desnudez

descubren los cuerpos de tu cuerpo

Mis manos

inventan otro cuerpo a tu cuerpo.

Entro en ti,

veracidad de la tiniebla.

Quiero las evidencias de lo oscuro,

beber el vino negro:

toma mis ojos y reviéntalos.

Una gota de noche

sobre la punta de tus senos:

enigmas del clavel.

Al cerrar los ojos

los abro dentro de tus ojos.

En su lecho granate

siempre está despierta

y húmeda tu lengua.

Hay fuentes

en el jardín de tus arterias.

Con una máscara de sangre

atravieso tu pensamiento en blanco:

desmemoria me guía

hacia el reverso de la vida.

Across

I turn the page of the day,

writing what I'm told

by the motion of your eyelashes.

My hands

Open the curtains of your being

They dress you with another nudity

Discover the bodies of your body

My hands

Make up another body to your body

I enter you,

the truthfulness of the dark.

I want proofs of darkness, want

to drink the black wine:

take my eyes and crush them.

A drop of night

on your breast's tip:

mysteries of the carnation.

Closing my eyes

I open them inside your eyes.

Always awake

on its garnet bed:

your wet tongue.

There are fountains

in the garden of your veins.

With a mask of blood

I cross your thoughts blankly:

amnesia guides me

to the other side of life.

si me detengo, se detiene;

The Street

Here is a long and silent street.

I walk in blackness and I stumble and fall

and rise, and I walk blind, my feet

trampling the silent stones and the dry leaves.

Someone behind me also tramples, stones, leaves:

if I slow down, he slows;

if I run, he runs. I turn : nobody.

Everything dark and doorless,

only my steps aware of me,

I turning and turning among these corners

which lead forever to the street

where nobody waits for, nobody follows me,

where I pursue a man who stumbles

and rises and says when he sees me: nobody.

Como quien oye llover

Óyeme como quien oye llover,

ni atenta ni distraída,

pasos leves, llovizna,

As One Listens To The Rain

Listen to me as one listens to the rain,

not attentive, not distracted,

light footsteps, thin drizzle,

water that is air, air that is time,

the day is still leaving,

the night has yet to arrive,

figurations of mist

at the turn of the corner,

figurations of time

at the bend in this pause,

listen to me as one listens to the rain,

without listening, hear what I say

with eyes open inward, asleep

with all five senses awake,

it's raining, light footsteps, a murmur of syllables,

air and water, words with no weight:

what we are and are,

the days and years, this moment,

weightless time and heavy sorrow,

listen to me as one listens to the rain,

wet asphalt is shining,

steam rises and walks away,

night unfolds and looks at me,

you are you and your body of steam,

you and your face of night,

you and your hair, unhurried lightning,

you cross the street and enter my forehead,

footsteps of water across my eyes,

listen to me as one listens to the rain,

the asphalt's shining, you cross the street,

it is the mist, wandering in the night,

it is the night, asleep in your bed,

it is the surge of waves in your breath,

your fingers of water dampen my forehead,

your fingers of flame burn my eyes,

your fingers of air open eyelids of time,

a spring of visions and resurrections,

listen to me as one listens to the rain,

the years go by, the moments return,

do you hear the footsteps in the next room?

not here, not there: you hear them

in another time that is now,

listen to the footsteps of time,

inventor of places with no weight, nowhere,

listen to the rain running over the terrace,

the night is now more night in the grove,

lightning has nestled among the leaves,

a restless garden adrift-go in,

your shadow covers this page.
