TAGORE, Rabindranath

…..
We cross infinity with every step; we meet eternity in every second.
…..
An open book is a mind that speaks to you. A closed book is a friend waiting for you. A burned book is a heart crying.
…..
The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough.
…..
Trees are the earth’s endless effort to speak tot he listening heaven.
…..
By plucking her petals, you do not gather the beauty of the flower.
…..
You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water.
…..
Depth of friendship does not depend on length of acquaintance.
…..
Emancipation from the bondage of the soil is no freedom for the tree.
…..
Death is not extinguishing the light; it is only putting out the lamp because the dawn has come.
…..
The one who plants a tree, knowing that he will never sit in their shade, has at least started to understand the meaning of life.
…..
Those who wish to sit, shut their eyes,

and meditate to know if the world's true or lies,

may do so. It's their choice. But I meanwhile

with hungry eyes that can't be satisfied

shall take a look at the world in broad daylight.

…..
I sit at my window this morning

where the world as a passer-by stops

for a moment, nods to me and goes.
